Since 1982 Tony Wright has been an ENT consultant at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and more recently at the Royal Free Hospital as well. Prior to that he worked in Liverpool and held a 2 year Medical Research Council Fellowship to investigate drug induced damage in the human inner ear. Not surprisingly he has maintained his interest in hearing and balance and this is now his specialist field. He was the a past president of the ENT Research Society and sat on the Specialist Advisory Committee in the Royal College of Surgeons to assess the quality of training of junior ENT surgeons.

He undertakes all forms of ear surgery from laser stapedectomy through reconstructive middle ear and mastoid procedure to acoustic neuroma surgery. He also helps children with hearing difficulties, such as glue ear and with frequently associated problems such as tonsillitis.

He has recently published a concise but comprehensive guide to "Deafness and Tinnitus" published by the British Medical Journal and available in most chemists and large supermarkets.

Tony Wright also has a law degree and undertakes medico-legal work at the request of claimants and defendant solicitors.
