Nimesh Patel has been a Consultant ENT Surgeon at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust since 2004. He is a visiting consultant at Lymington New Forest Hospital and The Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. He is Lead Surgeon for Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Chairman of the Wessex Head and Neck Cancer Team. He is Chairman of the Head & Neck and Thyroid Cancer Network Groups for the Central South Coast.

He is the lead for the Southampton Voice Clinic.
He is a co-director of the Ear Nose and Throat Group.
Until 2009 he was an Honorary Lecturer in Ear Nose and Throat Surgery at University College London.

Having trained in Medicine in Manchester, he underwent general surgical training in London and Manchester as a junior doctor. His Ear Nose and Throat Specialist training was in The North Thames Deanery, giving him the opportunity to train at St Mary’s Hospital, The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital.
His time in basic science research gave him the opportunity to work on tissue engineering for reconstruction of the ears, nose and throat at Imperial College Tissue Engineering Department.

He underwent fellowships at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Research) and The Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia (Advanced Head and Neck and Laryngology). He was a visiting researcher at Complutense University, Madrid 2007.
He completed a Masters Degree in Voice at the University of Newcastle in 2007.

He undertakes all forms of ear nose and throat surgery. He specializes in head and neck surgery and laryngology. He has a particular interest and expertise in disorders of the voice.He established the London Clinic for Vocal Artists, a clinic dedicated to excellence in care for the professional voice user.

Working with outstanding colleagues in Speech and Language Therapy, Mr Patel is committed to compassionate, discrete and exemplary treatment of patients with voice problems. The team understands the importance of vocal health on performance, and the impact that illness can have upon an artist’s work and professional standing.

Mr. Patel is interested in communication of healthcare issues to the general public. In addition to lecturing to medical audiences he enjoys giving talks to the public. He appeared in Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies program and has written articles for newspapers and magazines. He is cited in Marquis’ Who’s Who in Medicine.
